Clinton LumberKings News Release

The LumberKings returned home Saturday night to take on the Normal CornBelters. A Great River Division matchup between the two their second of the season.

The LumberKings jumped out to a 1-0 in the bottom of the first by way of a sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring home Anthony Mangano. Unfortunately for the LumberKings that would be the only run they would score in the contest.

The CornBelters scored 14 unanswered runs, highlighted by five RBI's from Blake Carey by way of a three-run homerun and a two RBI double.

Luke Schafer got the start and pitched well through four innings but gave up three in the top of the 5th inning and his day was over. The LumberKings pitching struggles continued and it showed down the stretch of this one.

The LumberKings drop to 8-12 and the CornBelters improve to 11-9 on the year. Alex Logusch got the win improving to 2-2 on the year, Luke Schafer took the loss dropping to 1-2 on the season.

The LumberKings return to Nelson Corp Field tomorrow to take on the O'Fallon Hoots, first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
