Clinton LumberKings News Release
The LumberKings defeat the Normal CornBelters 11-5 to improve to 18-24 (6-7) in prospect league play.
Ryan Miller threw a gem on the mound giving up just one earned run, going 6.0 IP and striking out ten. Logan Smith came in relief, throwing 2.0 IP striking out three as well. Casey Day wrapped things up in the 9th as the CornBelters got two runs back but the lead was too big to overcome.
Offensively the LumberKings were led by Daunte DeCello who was 3-4 on the night, just a double shy of the cycle, and 3 RBI's. The homerun was the second of the season for DeCello. Brett McCleary stayed hot at the plate with 3 hits in the contest, and Anthony Mangano added three RBI's as well.
Ryan Miller picked up the win improving to (1-1), Nate Gorczyca recieves the loss (2-3).
The LumberKings will be back in action tomorrow night against the Burlington Bees for another important divisional matchup. First pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
