LumberKings Sweep Quincy at Home

The LumberKngs and the Quincy Gems squared off for the second game of a two game series at Nelson Corp. The LumberKings took the first game 9-5 on Friday night and looked to grab another win against their Great River Division foe the Quincy Gems.

Jakob Kirman got the start for the LumberKings, his second of the year. He pitched a gem going seven full innings, striking out four and only allowing one hit. The LumberKings bats got going in the middle of the lineup yet again tonight. In the bottom of the third inning, Dom Milano lead off with a single. Followed by another single by Skyler Luna. Then, Clinton native Max Holy knocked in Milano with an RBI double. Luke Ira followed that up with a two RBI triple, growing Clinton's lead 3-0. Brett McCleary grounded out but knocked in Ira from third to get the LumberKings in front 4-0. The LumberKings didn't score again until the bottom of the eighth frame where they added some insurance runs. Skler Luna knocked in two more on a single and Max Holy put the icing on the cake with an RBI single to bring us to our final score 7-0 here at Nelson Corp Field.

Jakob Kirman got his second win of the year on the mound for Clinton improving to 2-0. The LumberKings improve to 6-3 on the year and sit ½ of a game back of Burlington in the Great River Division. The Gems season gets off to a 2-7 start as they fall four and ½ games back of the top spot in the division.

Clinton will travel to Quincy for a 6:35 first pitch tomorrow night at QU stadium, have an off day on Monday and play one more game in Quincy on Tuesday at 6:35.
