
LumberKings Split Series with Rex Baseball on Wednesday Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- After a 9-2 Victory on Tuesday night the Clinton LumberKings were defeated by Rex Baseball by the same score on Wednesday.
Early on the pitching for the LumberKings was the story. In his second start, Clinton hurler Joe Gabel (Mount Mercy) was superb. He went four innings, allowed two hits and zero runs.
Clinton gave Gabel a lead in the fourth, Rayth Petersen (University of Illinois Chicago) collected an RBI on a fielder's choice.
The LumberKings added more in the top of the fifth. Nick Banowetz (Southeastern CC) drove in a run with a fielder's choice of his own. After the top of the fifth the LumberKings held a 2-0 lead.
Trailing 2-1 in the seventh the Rex put up eight runs in the bottom half. The game was tied on a Kade Lassen (Lincoln Trail CC) RBI single. Next the Rex took the lead for good on an Aaron Beck (Indiana St) three-run triple, making it 5-2 in favor of the home team. Rex Baseball scored four more in the inning, eight in total, and took the game 9-2.
Clinton will take on the Danville Dans tomorrow night for the third game of a four game trip.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
