Clinton LumberKings News Release
The LumberKings traveled from Normal, IL. to O'Fallon, MO. on Thursday to take on the Prairie Land division leader O'Fallon Hoots. A battle between two division leaders was set to take place at CarShield Field.
The Hoots jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a Grand Slam from Nick Hoffman. Ryne Schooley got the start but did not complete the first inning for the LumberKings. Ryan Miller came in to relieve Schooley, and went three and two thirds of an inning throwing shutout ball after the Hoots took that 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
That score remained the same until the top of the 7th when the LumberKings were finally able to get some runs across home plate. The LumberKings had RBI's from Mason Schaller and Rayth Peterson in the inning and cut the lead 7-5 heading into the bottom of the 7th.
The Hoots were able to bring one run across in the bottom half of the inning increasing their lead 8-5. The LumberKings were in for another tough finish in back to back nights.
That was until the Hoots were able to bring across six more runs in the bottom of the 8th. The LumberKings saw four batters go to the plate in the top of the ninth but were retired in the inning. Bringing us to our final score tonight of 14-5.
The winning pitcher for the Hoots was Masen Palmiar he improved to 1-0. The losing pitcher for the LumberKings was Ryne Schooley he drops to 0-1. Following the loss the LumberKings dropped to 4-3.
