The LumberKings returned home Thursday afternoon to take on the Quincy Gems.
The LumberKings got off to a hot start with back to back doubles to start the game from Daunte DeCello and Justin Conant, both of them coming around to score in the inning after one the LumberKings held a 2-0 lead. This a lead that the LumberKings held through four.
The LumberKings got another strong four inning performance from Ryan Miller on the night. Giving up 0 runs, 0 hits and striking out 11. After his day was done the Gems got their scoring action started on Jacob Lodge and plated three runs in the top of the fifth inning. The LumberKings got one run back in the bottom part of the frame by way of a Brett McCleary sac-fly and the score was tied up at three all the way until the top of the eighth inning.
In the top of the eighth the Gems pushed across three more runs, one on an error, one on a wild pitch, and one on a batter hit by pitch. That brought us to our final score of 6-3 as the LumberKings were held scoreless in the final two frames.
With the loss the LumberKings drop to 12-18 on the year, the Gems improve to 14-14. Jared Simpson gets the loss, Trent Youngblood gets the win and Connery O'Donnell gets the save.
