The players, coaches and staff aren't the only ones preparing for a new season of indoor lacrosse - the team's sponsors are also getting ready for a whole new game as well.

Since becoming the NLL's (National Lacrosse League) newest expansion in May 2005, the LumberJax have been hard at work on becoming a partner within the community. One of the first steps toward that goal was to reach out to the corporate community.

"Obviously we made it a point to get our players into the community on a grassroots level, but we also knew how important it would be to reach out to the corporate community as well," Angela Batinovich, Managing Partner for the LumberJax said. "It is important that we find partners that believe in our game and are willing to help us grow the sport within the region. Most if not all of these partners will do much more than write us a check, they will help promote our players, coaches, dance team and even our mascot in an effort to build our brand."

The LumberJax entered into a partnership with Global Spectrum at the onset in May, which put more sales staff in the community. It also allowed current Rose Quarter/ Global Spectrum relationships to be leveraged and enhanced for the LumberJax.

A deal was finalized in October to welcome Scion as presenting sponsor for the entire season, meaning that the Scion logo & designation will be included in virtually everything that the LumberJax do over the course of the entire season including print, radio, tv, collateral, etc.

"Scion chose to sponsor the Jax for several reasons. First and foremost it is the fastest growing sport in the Pacific Northwest amongst kids and teens," commented Mike Davis, Scion Manager, Portland Region. "It's a fast-paced, exciting game with tons of appeal for the youth market that Scion is trying to cultivate. Finally it is a breath of fresh air in terms of professional sports in the desert of professional sports in the Portland/ Southern Washington area."

In addition to Scion, the LumberJax have added some well know national partners including Wells Fargo, GI Joes, Jet Blue, Comcast, Bally Total Fitness, Red Bull and the Army National Guard.

Local partners include: Lakeside Lumber, Marcus & Millichap, Columbia Commercial Properties, Hometown Buffet, Bi-Mart, Bigfoot Lacrosse, Rebound, Jax Restaurant, Think Signs, Virtual Sunshine, Sierra Nevada, Richard Herrera About Hair, Day Wireless, Vega Dance + Lab, Mt Hood Cleaners and Sports Dreams.

Season media partners include: The Oregonian, The Columbian, Portland Tribune, Willamette Week, The Portland Mercury, KCMD 970AM, KFXX 1080AM, KXJM 95.5FM, KWJJ 99.5FM, KKRZ 100.3FM, KUFU 101.1FM, KGW TV8 (NBC), KPTV TV12 (FOX), KPDX TV49 (UPN), Comcast and Clear Channel Outdoor.
