Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks continue their five-game home stand this weekend with a pair of games against Eastern Conference rival Green Bay.
Muskegon and the Gamblers will face off Friday at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. for games No. 3 and 4, respectively, of the home stand.
The Lumberjacks lost their most recent game 4-3 in overtime to Youngstowns, but they're still unbeaten in regulation in their last eight games and just two points out of first place.
The two teams met three weekends ago at L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon, with the host Lumberjacks skating away with a 3-2 win in a wide-open affair.
Muskegon outshot Green Bay 39-31 on Oct. 19, with Noah Giesbrecht making 29 saves for the win.
Giesbrecht is tied for third in the USHL in wins with five, while his goalie teammate Jonathon (Jack) Williams is third in the league in save percentage (2.26) and fourth in save percentage (.919).
Offensively the Lumberjacks have a trio of forwards leading the way, including reigning USHL Forward of the Week Danil Gushchin.
Gushchin, who scored four goals in a win over Waterloo last weekend, is fifth in the USHL in scoring with 15 points. Oliver MacDonald is tied for the league lead in goals with nine, and Alex Konovalov is fourth in assists with nine.
Jesse Tucker leads Green Bay with seven goals and 11 points.
Nicholas Grabko, who stopped 36 Muskegon shots in the Oct. 19 game, is 3-3 with a 2.69 GAA in net for the Gamblers.
The Friday night game serves as Military Appreciation Night presented by Little River Casino Resort. There will be a specialty jersey LIVE auction following the game. The jerseys are sponsored by L3 Harris.
