Lumberjacks Release Two Players

MUSKEGON, MI.--- With their opening night to commemorate and celebrate 50-years of pro hockey in Muskegon on the docket for this Saturday night at Walker Arena against the Bloomington Prairie Thunder, the Lumberjacks have taken another step in solidifying their inaugural weekend player roster.

On this date, the Lumberjacks have announced that right wing Kevin Demers and defenseman Jack Williams have been released, effective immediately.

Both Demers and Williams saw extensive action in each of the Jacks two pre-season games against Fort Wayne the past weekend.

The Lumberjacks pre-season roster presently has been trimmed to 24-players; including two goaltenders, 9-defensemen and 13-forwards.

The Lumberjacks launch their Golden Anniversary Season this weekend as they travel to Flint this Friday night, October 16th for a 7:30 duel against the Generals before returning home for their home opening night bonanza extravaganza and 50-years of hockey in Muskegon this Saturday night, October 17th against Bloomington.

Special pre-game ceremonies for the home opening night will get underway at 7:00 pm preceded by the Lumberjacks second annual Street Party from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm outside and around Walker Arena.

The gala opening night ceremonies will feature the honoring of some 25-Muskegon hockey legends and all-time greats, representing all of the eras of pro hockey since its genesis here in 1960.

In addition, IHL President / Commissioner and former all-time Detroit Red Wings great Dennis Hextall will participate in the opening night festivities and perform the ceremonial opening face-off.
