
Icehawks Trim Roster As They Prepare For Season Opener

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks have trimmed their roster as they prepare to open the regular season versus the Fort Wayne Komets this Saturday.
Forwards Kai Magnussen, Steve Natywary and Myles Palliser and defensemen Darcy Rees and Kevin O'Connor were waived, while goalie A.J Bucchino and forwards Scott O'Connor and Matt Caranci were released from their tryout agreements.
The roster currently stands at 21 players, including 11 forwards, eight defensemen and two goalies. The lineup includes five rookies and seven veterans.
The team will practice from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. for the remainder of the week as they prepare for the season opener. All practices are open to the public.
"We saw what we needed to see during preseason," Icehawks General Manager/ Head Coach Stan Drulia said. "We still have some areas we need to address, but I believe we have put together a solid team."
The Icehawks opened camp with 33 players. Peter Pritchett, Andrew Scampoli and Jason Ulller were released from their training camp agreements last week.
Port Huron finished preseason action with a 2-1 record, as they split a pair of games with the Flint Generals on Friday and Saturday and defeated the ECHL Toledo Walleye yesterday.
