Lumberjacks Open Camp

Adirondack Lumberjacks News Release

Glens Falls, NY- The 2002 version of the Adirondack Lumberjacks arrived in Glens Falls over the weekend, which officially triggered the start of summer in the North Country.

Despite Mother Nature's attempt to delay the start of Spring Training, the Lumberjacks could not be stopped. Rain started to fall early Sunday morning as the first practice of the season was scheduled to begin. Kash Beauchamp's crew improvised as batting practice was taken under the concourse tent, and pitchers threw despite falling raindrops.

"Kash has done a great job getting the players to work in tough conditions. The players haven't complained at all, which leads me to believe Kash has put together a team that is hungry to win," stated Jacks General Manager Curt Jacey.

The Lumberjacks will continue to practice this week despite weather predictions of rain. On Friday, May 17, the Lumberjacks play their first Spring Training game of the season against the Japanese All-Stars at 2 PM at East Field. Adirondack will host the Japanese All-Stars on Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM as well. All workouts and games are open to the public.

The Jacks open the 2002 campaign against their rival, the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs, on Friday, May 24 at 6 PM at East Field. Tickets for this and all home games are available by calling the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at (518) 743-9618.
