Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI - Two Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced their NCAA commitments. Defenseman Tyler Dunbar has committed to the University of North Dakota, and forward Tom Sinclair has pledged to the University of Vermont.

Dunbar, entering his second season in Muskegon, only played in 26 games as a Jack last season, but quickly turned into one of the Jacks' most exciting defenseman at just 16 years old. Dunbar tallied 12 points during 2019-2020, including two goals, the second-most of any Jacks blueliner.

"I chose UND because of the great history and tradition there," said Dunbar. "It's something special to be a part of and I look forward to joining their team, which has had such great success in the past. They have everything a young hockey player needs to develop and grow."

Dunbar is just a high school junior this year, so doesn't yet know what he will study in college.

Sinclair, a Lumberjacks draft pick who is likely to debut during the preseason, announced his commitment to Vermont, citing the coaching staff as a big reason why.

"I chose Vermont because of the pro-style coaching staff they have there with [new head coach] Todd Woodcroft," said Sinclair. "Vermont was also appealing because of the long hockey history there."

Dunbar, Sinclair, and the rest of the Jacks open their preseason tomorrow against Team USA U18. Muskegon will not allow fans during preseason play, but games can be heard on the Lumberjacks Broadcast Network.
