Lumberjacks Deal Dacosta To Dayton

MUSKEGON, MI.--- Riding the crest of a seasons best 3-games undefeated streak at 3(2-0-1), the third place Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League have completed their first player transaction of the franchise 50th Anniversary Season.

On this date, the Lumberjacks have announced the trade of first year defenseman Justin DaCosta to the Dayton Gems in exchange for future considerations. The trade takes effect immediately.

DaCosta, 24, is in his first pro season, having been signed by way of a two-way contract through the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins prior to the start of training camp.

Seeing action in all 9 of the Lumberjacks games thus far in this early season, the 5-10, 190lb right-shooting rearguard had registered 3-points on 1-goal, 2-assists with 6-PIM and +3 rating.

DaCosta had arrived on the Muskegon scene following three years of Canadian collegiate hockey at the University of New Brunswick preceded by a four year stint in the OHL major junior A circuit with the Barrie Colts, Owen Sound Attack and Mississauga Ice Dogs.

The Lumberjacks swing back into action Wednesday night when they sojourn to Port Huron to be guested by the second place Icehawks in a 7:00 pm face-off with broadcast time on WLAW 92.5 FM, The Outlaw set for 6:30 pm.

Head Coach Rich Kromms contingent returns home for a pair of Walker appearances this weekend as the Flint Generals make their first trip here for a Friday night, Ladies Night clash before the two-time defending league champions Fort Wayne Komets come to town for another $5 Sunday.
