The Syracuse SkyChiefs announced today that pitcher MARK LUKASIEWICZ has signed a minor league free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
LUKASIEWICZ, 30, spent the first seven years of his career with the Blue Jays after Toronto drafted him with the 40th pick of the first round in the 1993 Draft. "Luke" spent parts of the 1997-2000 seasons with the SkyChiefs, going a combined 10-10 with a 4.54 ERA in 141 games for Syracuse.
He was claimed on waivers by the Anaheim Angels in October 2000 and has spent the past three seasons in the Angels organization, including 17 games for the Angels during their 2002 World Championship season. In 41 games for Anaheim, LUKASIEWICZ was 2-2 with a 5.20 ERA in 36.1 innings.
The left-handed reliever has a lifetime 2-2 major league record and is 31-30 at the minor league level in 10 seasons. The Jersey City, NJ native and his wife Mary reside during the off-season in Clay, NY, a suburb of Syracuse.
LUKASIEWICZ will be one of the special guests at the 2004 SkyChiefs Hot Stove event Thursday, February 5 at the Holiday Inn-Liverpool.
