MIDLAND, Mich. - Dee Gordon provided a go-ahead RBI single in the fourth inning and the Great Lakes Loons (2-3; 42-33) rode the excellent pitching of Josh Walter and Geison Aguasviva to a 3-2 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (2-3; 28-46) on Tuesday night at Dow Diamond.

The Lugnuts' five hits, two runs, and one RBI were all provided by Luis Fernandez and Tyler Pastornicky, the top two hitters in Lansing's lineup. Fernandez, a late replacement for Mark Sobolewski, went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Pastornicky added an RBI double, a triple, and a steal of home in a two-run third inning that gave the Lugnuts a brief 2-1 lead.

Kyle Russell tied the score in the home half with his league-leading 18th home run of the season, setting up Gordon's tie-breaking bouncer an inning later.

Walter (5-1) hurled seven innings, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out five to earn the win. Aguasviva relieved him for the final two innings, complete in scoreless fashion for his first save.

John Anderson (2-5) shouldered the loss, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Lansing's Ryan Koch, Dustin Antolin, and Hunter Moody combined to work 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Anderson.

The Lugnuts and Loons play the second game of their four-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m., with right-hander Joel Carreno making his Lansing debut against Great Lakes right-hander Bobby Blevins.
