Lucic Signs Contract With Boston
August 2, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release
The Vancouver Giants congratulate MILAN LUCIC on signing his first National Hockey League contract with the Boston Bruins. Terms of the entry level deal were not released.
Lucic is coming off two impressive years in a Giants uniform. This past season, the Vancouver native led the Giants in scoring with 30 goals and 38 assists. The 6'4" left winger had 19 points in 22 WHL playoff games and was named the Most Valuable Player in the Giants run to the Memorial Cup last May.
Prior to last season, Lucic was taken in the 3rd round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (50th overall) by the Bruins. That came after his rookie season with Vancouver, one that saw him score nine goals, 10 assists, and collect 149 penalty minutes.
"Milan's accomplishments with our hockey club the past two years have been nothing short of outstanding," says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "He is well deserving of signing his first NHL contract and we look forward to seeing Milan be a strong leader for our club next season."
Lucic is preparing to play for Canada in the upcoming Canada Russia Super Series later this month. The final game of the eight-game series will be held in Vancouver September 9 at General Motors Place.
