DEUCES WILD

The Lubbock Cotton Kings 4-2 win in Amarillo Saturday night gave the Cotton Kings a two-game winning streak in the Interstate Batteries I-27 Series, a two-game road winning streak and a two-game overall winnings streak. The Cotton Kings opened the week last week with a tough 3-0 loss at home to Laredo, but rebounded after Thanksgiving with a 4-2 win over Memphis and Saturday's win in Amarillo. The Cotton Kings are 7-2-1 in their last ten games and have their overall record to 9-7-1, as they sit in first place of the CHL's Southwest Division.

"HEROES & LEGACIES" COTTON KINGS "HERO OF THE WEEK"

Each week a member of the Cotton Kings is selected as the "Heroes & Legacies Hero of the Week" for their performance in the previous week's games, and this week's recipient for their effort last week is goaltender Brett Koscielny, who wins the honor for a second consecutive week. The rookie netminder made two starts of the three games last week and went 2-0-0 in the pipes. Against Memphis on Friday, he stopped 24 of 26 shots on goal. Memphis' two goals tallied were on the power play. Saturday, Koscielny stopped a career and Cotton Kings season high 42 shots on goal in Amarillo. He stopped all 22 shots faced during the second period of the contest, which had the Kings shorthanded for six consecutive minutes (including 1:30 of 5-on-3 play). His first goal allowed against Amarillo ended a series shutout sequence of 98:56 Koscielny held against Amarillo on the season. For the combined week, Koscielny stopped 66 of 70 shots on goal for a 94.3% save percentage. The Brandon, Manitoba native leads the CHL with a 2.01 GAA and a 93.3% save percentage.
