Biloxi Shuckers News Release
BILOXI, MS - In a game that featured six combined hits, the Biloxi Shuckers (43-47, 9-14 2nd Half) fell 3-2 to the Montgomery Biscuits (42-43, 14-9 2nd Half) on Wednesday night at MGM Park.
With the game square at 2-2 going to the ninth, RHP Zach Vennaro (L, 4-2) entered the contest for Biloxi. Brett Wisley worked a lead-off walk, stole second and then scored on an RBI single from Niko Hulsizer, putting Montgomery up 3-2. After a walk to Jordan Qsar, Vennaro struck out the next three hitters to end the frame.
RHP Josh Roberson (S, 1) struck out the first batter he faced in the ninth before Joey Wiemer walked, putting the tying run on base. A groundout by Cam Devanney advanced Wiemer to second and Tristen Lutz walked, placing the winning run on base. Thomas Dillard then laced a single to right but Wiemer was thrown out at home by Kameron Misner, ending the game.
Montgomery took an early lead in the second inning on a double, a walk, an RBI single and an RBI groundout, going ahead 2-0.
Biloxi tied the game thanks to a pair of errors in the bottom of the third. Dillard reached on a fielding error by Tyler Frank and moved up to second on a foul out. Nick Kahle delivered the first run of the game on an RBI single up the middle, pulling the Shuckers within a run at 2-1. Kahle moved to second on a groundout by Sal Frelick and scored on a single to right by Andruw Monasterio, knotting the game at 2-2.
Even though he didn't receive a decision, RHP T.J. Shook bounced back from the two-run bottom of the second and retired 14 of the final 15 hitters he faced over a career-high 6.1 innings. Shook allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out four.
