Louisiana's Matt Zenzola Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (February 11, 2014) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Matt Zenzola of the Louisiana IceGators is the Easton Player of the Week for February 3-9.

Zenzola went 3-0-0, posting a 1.98 goals against average and .924 save percentage, in helping the IceGators maintain a tie for the top spot in the SPHL standings.

On Tuesday, the San Diego, CA native stopped 26 shots in leading the IceGators to a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win over Pensacola. Zenzola came back on Friday with a 21-save performance in a 3-1 win over the Mississippi Surge. Zenzola closed out the weekend with his second overtime win of the week, a 26-save outing in a 4-3 win over the Surge.

Zenzola currently has a 13-6-1 record, 2.76 goals against average and .909 save percentage for the IceGators. After starting the 2012-13 season with the Kerry Park Islanders of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, Zenzola played 30 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Zenzola also earned Spokane's only playoff win, making 50 saves in a 2-1 overtime win over the Castlegar Rebels.
