LouCity Adds WLKY as Official TV Partner
March 16, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With the 2016 season kicking off in just 10 days, Louisville City FC announced a historic partnership with WLKY, Louisville's local CBS affiliate. LouCity's partnership makes WLKY Louisville the official TV partner for the second-year Club.
"This is an important strategic partnership we are thrilled to bring to the Louisville community," Louisville City president Amanda Duffy said. " As we work with WLKY Louisville to deliver first-class, in-depth coverage of the Club, our growing fan base will now experience new levels of access to our players, matches and breaking news."
WLKY Louisville will have a presence at all 15 regular season USL matches played at Louisville Slugger Field, as well having its renowned logo featured on the back of LouCity's official match jerseys. WLKY will be prominently represented on Louisville City's iconic purple home jerseys, away whites and the all-new third kit that's to be unveiled on Friday at the Opening Whistle.
Four-time Emmy Award-winning chief meteorologist Jay Cardosi will serve as the master of ceremonies at LouCity's season kickoff party, launching all the Club's 2016 catalog of merchandise and official match jerseys.
The partnership is planned to grow into an extensive broadcast and in-game production with segments to be shown on the in-stadium large-format scoreboard and on the CBS-affiliate on television.
Entering 2016, Louisville City FC has returned 13 players from the 2015 roster - including reigning USL Goal of the Season winner Aodhan Quinn and former English Premier League striker Cameron Lancaster. New additions include MLS Cup-winning forward Chandler Hoffman, University of Louisville alumnus Paolo DelPiccolo and University of Kentucky alumnus Davis.
Louisville City FC begins regular season play on March 26 at Charlotte Independence. LouCity then returns to Louisville Slugger Field on April 2 to host New York Red Bulls II in the home opener, with a special 3 p.m. kickoff.
