FC Cincinnati to Take on Xavier in Friendly Friday

Cincinnati continues the preseason slate this Friday when the club matches up against Xavier University at the XU Soccer Complex at 7:00 p.m.

- Admission to the friendly is free and open to the general public.

- FCC is coming off a solid showing against Indy Eleven, playing to a 1-1 draw last Saturday. Xavier alumnus, Luke Spencer, scored the lone goal for FCC, his third in four appearances off the bench.

- That draw comes on the heels of a successful stint in Florida where FCC won the IMG Suncoast Classic, going 2-0-1. FCC and KR Reykjavic (Iceland) ended in a 2-2 tie to open tournament action and FC Cincinnati followed the by collecting a 2-1 win against New York City FC (MLS) before sealing the championship with a 4-0 victory against HB Kage.

SPENCER, STARR RETURN TO STOMPING GROUNDS

- Luke Spencer and Jamie Starr will be familiar faces this Friday for the Xavier contingent.

- He led the Musketeers to two conference titles and three NCAA Tournament berths.

- Spencer was a two-time NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic region honoree and was recognized early in his collegiate career, garnering a spot on the Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team in 2009.

- Starr, FCC's goalkeeper coach, trained the Musketeer goalies for both the men's and women's programs from 2010-2016.

- His mentorship netted consecutive conference tournament titles for Xavier and four NCAA Tournament berths.

- He tutored current FCC goalie, Dallas Jaye, who was voted the Big East Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Year last season.

- Jaye was an all-conference first-team choice and ranked ninth in the nation with a 0.63 goals against average in his lone year at Xavier.

- Jaye will be the lone former Musketeer missing from the FCC lineup this week as he will be representing the Guam National Team in competition.
