
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to welcome Chivas Guadalajara, Club America tomorrow

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, August 8, 2005) - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will attend a press conference tomorrow at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at 1:15 p.m. PT to formally welcome Mexico's two most popular soccer teams, Club Deportivo Guadalajara and Club América, which on Wednesday, August 10 will face each other in 'Coors Light Te Trae el Clásico de Clásicos' (Coors Light Brings You the Classic of Classics), as part of a historic international doubleheader also featuring the United States' only intra-city pro soccer rivalry, Chivas USA versus Los Angeles Galaxy, in the 'Honda Super Clasico'.
The press conference will kick off the 141st edition of Mexico's greatest soccer rivalry and will also feature players and officials from Guadalajara and América, as well as speakers from the Coors Brewing Company and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It will be held underneath the central arch of the peristyle located at the Coliseum's east end. The conference will be preceded by a media lunch starting at 12:00 noon PT.
In the first match of Wednesday's historic international doubleheader at the Coliseum, Chivas USA will face the Los Angeles Galaxy in the fourth edition of the 'Honda Super Clasico' between the two Major League Soccer rivals. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. PT, to be followed by Club Deportivo Guadalajara versus Club América at 9:00 p.m. in 'Coors Light Te Trae el Clásico de Clásicos' (Coors Light Brings You the Classic of Classics) of Mexican soccer.
