Los Angeles Dominates Colorado In Win

EL SEGUNDO, CA - Dwayne Mitchell led the Los Angeles D-Fenders to a convincing 125-104 victory over the visiting Colorado 14ers, scoring 43 points and grabbing 12 rebounds at the Toyota Sports Center Monday evening.

In front of a packed house, the D-Fenders (8-21) ended the first-place 14ers five game winning streak. The loss sends their record to 18-8 for the season. Los Angeles was able to capitalize on the familiar baskets, shooting 57.5% from the field. The D-Fenders also were bale to convert from the charity stripe, hitting 37 of 47 from the free throw line. Colorado only visited the foul line 19 times, hitting on 14.

The D-Fenders controlled the paint with Duane Erwin and Longar Longar each recording six blocks. Erwin and Longar added double-doubles to the blocks with 11 points and 10 assists from Erwin and Longar's 17 points and 13 rebounds. Ryan Forehan-Kelly came off the bench with 21 points.

Trey Gilder led the 14ers with 23 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Joe Dabbert (18), Billy Thomas (17), Dominique Coleman (15) and Vernon Hamilton (14) rounded out Colorado's leading scorers.

Los Angeles, who trailed only once early in the first quarter, was able to extend their lead to as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter. The D-Fenders outscored Colorado in each period. Colorado was without the services of guard Eddie Gill who earlier in the day received a NBA Gatorade Call-Up with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The D-Fenders wait for Austin to come to town with a matchup against the Toros, scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th at STAPLES Center. Colorado will return home for a Southwest Divisional game against the Tulsa 66ers on Wednesday night.
