LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (March 7, 2016) - Chick-fil-A franchisees in the Los Angeles market are teaming up with five-time MLS Cup champions the LA Galaxy as an official partner to coincide with the start of the 2016 MLS regular season, which kicked off on March 6. The LA Galaxy and Chick-fil-A's LA restaurants will collectively develop enhanced programming centered on exclusive benefits and unique on-site fan engagement opportunities for the ultimate game-day experience. The partnership is a first between Chick-fil-A franchisees and the LA Galaxy.
"The LA Galaxy is a huge source of pride in our region, and the Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Los Angeles market are excited to be a part of the momentum," said Ashley Derby, local franchise owner of the Chick-fil-A at USC In-Line. "We look forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring for us to serve our communities together."
Los Angeles is one of Chick-fil-A's fastest growing markets, and the LA Galaxy provide a significant opportunity to introduce fans to the popular restaurant's offerings, while simultaneously enhancing the brand's connection to the Los Angeles marketplace.
"We are delighted to welcome Chick-fil-A into the LA Galaxy family. Chick-fil-A and the LA Galaxy have a mutual, vested interest in engaging soccer fans and enhancing their game-day-experience," said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. "We're excited to debut the innovative programming and promotions we have developed for the 2016 season and look forward to building an even deeper connection with the fans through this strategic partnership."
ACTIVATIONS THROUGHOUT GALAXY SEASON:
Chick-fil-A will be the title sponsor for the LA Galaxy's upcoming April 10th home game against the Portland Timbers. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to experience Chick-fil-A via unique, on-field halftime promotions. Portland Timbers fans can also experience the brand firsthand when Chick-fil-A opens its first Portland-area restaurants this spring.
Beginning on April 10th and throughout the upcoming season, the Galaxy will host Chick-fil-A themed "Cows in the Corner" seating promotions. During these special activations, Chick-fil-A will position two of the Chick-fil-A 'Eat Mor Chikin' Cows in field-side seats located behind one of the TV-visible corner kick areas. Nicknamed "Cows in the Corner," these seats will be part of the "Field of Play," and will maximize exposure to the 27,000 in-stadium fans as well as to regional and national broadcast TV audiences.
Throughout the season, Chick-fil-A will also sponsor a specialty "Kickin' for Chicken" promotion. When a goal is scored off any free kick by the LA Galaxy, the fans in attendance will receive a coupon valid for a free Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich from their neighborhood Chick-fil-A.
Additionally, the LA Galaxy and Chick-fil-A will collaboratively plan and execute a variety of promotional content across both social and digital media platforms to maximize the impact of the partnership to the benefit of the fans.
