Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS - Major-league rehabber Chris Gimenez provided an early spark with a home run, while catching an impressive outing from Frank Lopez, and the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, knocked off the visiting San Antonio Missions, 7-4, at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The veteran catcher, playing in his first rehab game with the RoughRiders (12-4), played the first five innings Monday and finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the first inning, while also catching for Lopez (2-0), who turned in one of his best outings of the season.
Lopez logged his longest outing of the year while allowing just one earned run on five hits. The left-hander earned the win and lowered his ERA from 4.11 to 3.32.
Following Giminez's blast, the Riders added to their lead in the fourth inning against Missions starter Bryce Morrow (0-1). After an RBI single from Ronald Guzman, Zach Cone blasted his third home run of the season, clearing the Diamond Deck in left field to put Frisco up 5-0.
Though the Missions (8-9) made things interesting with a three-run seventh inning, the RoughRiders bullpen closed things out, including the final 1 1/3 innings from Adam Parks, who picked up the save to hold off the Missions in the 7-4 contest.
The Riders continue their eight-game homestand Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against San Antonio. Right-hander Connor Sadzeck (3-0, 1.53 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for the Riders, opposite righty Luis Diaz (1-2, 7.80) for San Antonio. Fans can watch the action on MiLB.TV and live coverage can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App. Dr Pepper Pregame Show coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday also marks the arrival of the nationally acclaimed Runner-Up Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Plus, it's another Taco Tuesday, which includes $2 tacos all night long, along with select beers for $3 and half-price margaritas from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tickets for Tuesday's game, and all remaining games in the homestand are available now online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at info@ridersbaseball.com, over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box office.
