Great Lakes Loons News Release

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons will be hosting a 10th season kick-off event at Dow Diamond on Saturday, February 13. Fans are invited to visit the ballpark to get a preview of what they can expect at Loons games during the 2016 season. This will also be the public's first chance to get a look at the updated brand for the Loons moving forward.

"It's really an exciting time for our organization as 2016 will mark a decade of baseball in Midland," Loons General Manager Scott Litle said. "That's why we've chosen to open our doors before Opening Day. We want to offer our fans the chance to connect with us and be some of the first people to see a new era of Loons baseball ushered in."

Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. with the event taking place from 12-3 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive by noon as team president Paul Barbeau will provide opening remarks on the main concourse as the team unveils updated logos, uniforms and merchandise.

The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in both the northwest and southeast parking lots near the stadium. Fans can also park in the lots near the East End Development off Ellsworth Street and State Street.

It will be the first chance for fans to find out what entertainment and other fun nights will be taking place in Midland with the release of the 2016 promotional schedule. If fans have not had the chance to participate in an on-field promotion at Dow Diamond before, select games will be set up for first-timers to try out.

The Great Lakes Grill, the location where fans purchase food and drink items during the season, will be open and offering hot dogs, chips and drinks for $1 throughout the event.

Bacchanal Promotions will have a fire breather, sword swallower, juggler and unicyclist performing throughout the afternoon. Magician Cameron Zvara will be performing for fans and the carnival-like atmosphere will be enhanced by stilt walkers roaming above and amongst patrons.

Fans can have their picture taken with G3 Photo Booth from Bay City in between playing yard games like corn hole and interacting with Lou E. Loon and Rall E. Camel. The batting cage underneath the stadium will also be open for fans to take swings against the pitching machine.

For people who care to be more digitally engaged, fans can showcase their talents in our home run derby on the media wall on the first base side of the concourse.

Throughout the event, tours will be offered to fans who wish to have a closer, more in-depth look at Dow Diamond. Fans will also be able to stop by and get a little coaching from Loons public address announcer Jerry O'Donnell as they try their own "Loooons" call and announcing a mock starting lineup.

The Great Lakes Loons have been a Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the team's inception in 2007 and are entering their 10th season in 2016. For tickets and more information about the Loons, call 989-837-BALL or visit Loons.com.
