Great Lakes Loons News Release
GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. - The Loons scored their only run in Saturday's series finale in the first inning and were held scoreless the rest of the way in a 3-1 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium.
The Loons fall to 10-23 on the season after a 1-5 road trip to Wisconsin. The Timber Rattlers have won nine straight against the Loons.
Romer Cuadrado drove in the single tally on an RBI fielder's choice that scored Brandon Montgomery from third. The Loons stranded the bases full in the first inning and in two additional innings (the seventh and the eighth) to strand a total of 12 runners in the two-run loss. Great Lakes batted 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
Wisconsin tied the game in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly, and the score remained tied until the seventh. Right-handed reliever Riley Ottesen retired the first six batters he faced, but lost the strike zone for a nine-pitch span that led to a walk, a hit batsman and a balk. With runners on second and third, Tristen Lutz's sacrifice fly untied the game. An insurance run scored later in the inning on K.J. Harrison's RBI double to left.
After an off day on Mother's Day, the Loons return to Dow Diamond for a four-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) that begins at 7:05 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 14.
The Great Lakes Loons have been the Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the team's inception in 2007. Dow Diamond serves as the team's home and also houses the Michigan Baseball Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, and ESPN 100.9-FM.
