Loons Introduce High School Spirit Program

The Great Lakes Loons are pleased to announce a new initiative for the 2010 season, the Loons High School Spirit Program. The program was established to give area high schools the opportunity to show their school spirit at Dow Diamond while competing for cash donations. Schools will sell Loons tickets for their spirit night and will be assigned points based on the number of tickets sold. In addition, judges will assign points for participation during the game. Schools are encouraged to bring banners, noisemakers, mascots and even the school band.

The Loons High School Spirit program runs from opening day through May 5th, at which time Loons judges will determine the top three schools. These schools will each earn a cash award, worth a of up to $5,000 between the three schools.

The schedule for participating schools is as follows:

Sunday, April 11 Meridian High School

Monday, April 12 Nouvel Catholic Central High School

Tuesday, April 13 All Saints Central High School

Wednesday, April 14 Open

Thursday, April 15 Coleman High School

Friday, April 16 Open

Friday, April 23 Midland High School

Saturday, April 24 Bullock Creek Schools

Sunday, April 25 Bay City Western High School

Tuesday, May 4 Bay City Central High School

Wednesday, May 5 H.H. Dow High School

"The Loons High School Spirit Progam is a fun, exciting way to bring students, faculty, families and friends together," said Chris Mundhenk, Loons Vice President of Marketing and Entertainment. "It's a chance for the respective schools to show their school spirit, root for the Loons and-most importantly-compete to earn funds for their schools."
