Great Lakes Loons News Release
BOWLING GREEN, KY - Wednesday night the Great Lakes Loons and Bowling Green Hot Rods played an inning and a half in the start of a doubleheader, before heavy rains hit Bowling Green Ballpark with the score tied 0-0.
Although the rains lasted only 10-15 minutes, the field took on too much water to allow the two teams to continue playing.
Angel Sanchez started for the Loons. He worked out of a second and third, one out jam in the first inning, and was on the mound warming up in the middle of the second when the rains became too heavy and the tarp was unfurled on the field.
Lefty Blake Snell worked two scoreless innings for Bowling Green, allowing just a two-out walk to Paul Hoenecke.
The game will pick up in the bottom of the second inning Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. E.T., followed by the regularly scheduled game. The two teams also will play a doubleheader Friday night beginning at 6 p.m. E.T.
For the Loons, lefty Miguel Sulbaran (2-2, 4.66 ERA) will begin on the mound when play resumes. Right-hander Ralston Cash (2-3, 4.50) is slated to start the second game.
For Bowling Green, left-hander Brandon Henderson (2-0, 1.86) will start the resumption game. Right-hander Dylan Floro (3-0, 1.54) is scheduled to start the second game of the evening.
The games will be broadcast live on ESPN 100.9-FM and ESPN1009.com.
The Loons are a seventh-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
