Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Eddy Perez drove in three runs, while the Lookouts pitching staff combined on a five-hitter en route to a 4-2 win over the Carolina Mudcats in Tuesday night action at AT&T Field Carolina entered the scoreboard first in the second inning. Zack Cozart walked to begin the inning and made his way to second on a balk committed by Alberto Bastardo.
After a walk to Logan Parker and an Eric Eymann ground out, which advanced Cozart to third, Brian Peterson hit a ground out to third to plate the first run of the game.
The Lookouts quickly countered in the bottom portion of the second on a two-run shot off of the bat of Eddy Perez.
Bastardo, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth, was quickly disarmed by Michael Griffin, who led off with a double off the left field wall. Griffin would eventually score on a Cozart sacrifice fly.
Chattanooga broke the tie in the sixth with two runs. Ramon Nivar led off with a dying-duck single to center, which went under the glove of Sean Henry, allowing Nivar to reach to third. Josh Bell followed with a deep fly to right to score Nivar.
Andrew Lambo then blasted a double to right and crossed home plate after consecutive singles from Russ Mitchell and Perez. The Lookouts bullpen took care of business to preserve the win. Kendy Batista threw 1.2 innings of shutout ball to improve to 4-0, while Matt Sartor closed the door on the Mudcats by not surrendering a run over the last final two innings. In the process, Sartor picked up his sixth save of the season.
The Chattanooga Lookouts and Carolina Mudcats will continue their five-game series at 11:15 A.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
