Lookouts Lose to Stars, 4-0, to Force Decisive Game Five

September 7, 2014 - Southern League (SL1)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Huntsville Stars out-pitched the Chattanooga Lookouts and won 4-0 in order to push the series to a fifth and final game.

Matt Shelton was on the bump for the Lookouts and started out very strong. Shelton retired the first 12 batters he faced in order, but his short look at perfection was taken away by Hector Gimenez when he led off the fifth inning with a single. Gimenez eventually came around to score, but that was the only run that Shelton gave up in his five innings of work.

Onelki Garcia came into the game to relieve Shelton and pitched a scoreless sixth inning. Garcia is with the Lookouts on a Major League Rehab assignment.

The Lookouts' lineup was no match for the Stars' pitchers and defense, though. The Lookouts sent 28 hitters to the plate, just one more than the minimum, since two of their three hits and a walk were all erased on double plays.

The decisive, winner-take-all game five of the series will be at AT&T Field Monday night at 7:15. Lookouts' right-hander Nick Struck will try and send Chattanooga to the Southern League Championship Series, while Stars' left-hander Brent Suter will do his best to counter Struck.

The Lookouts will try to close out the series and move on to the Southern League Championship Series on Sunday afternoon at 2:15 pm. Matt Shelton will toe the rubber for Chattanooga, pitching against Huntsville starter Tyler Wagner.
