Lookouts Defeat Suns 7-4 in Ten Innings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (21-23, 58-56) fell 7-4 to the Chattanooga Lookouts (26-17, 61-52) in ten innings at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Monday night.

The Suns were a strike away from victory in the top of the ninth with a 4-3 lead before the Lookouts would rally back to tie the game on an RBI single by Travis Denker. In the tenth, Elian Herrera hit a two-RBI triple off Jacksonville reliever Ramon Benjamin (2-1) to break the tie before he scored on a Kyle Skipworth passed ball that capped the three-run tenth.

Shawn Tolleson (3-2) threw the final two innings in scoreless fashion and earned the victory, while Benjamin took the loss.

After the teams traded RBI singles in the of the first, Scott Van Slyke hit his second RBI single of the game in the top of the third to put the Lookouts ahead 2-1. Suns starter Bryan Evans threw seven innings allowing two runs on ten hits, and would see his five-start winning streak come to an end despite leaving the game with the lead courtesy of a strong bottom of the seventh by the Suns at the plate.

Paul Gran hit a three-run homer in the last of the seventh to put the Suns ahead for the first time at 4-2. Denker hit a solo homer off Jhan Marinez in the top of the eighth to put the score at 4-3 going into the ninth. After retiring the first two batters, Suns closer Sandy Rosario was ahead 0-2 in the count against Alex Castellanos before the batter worked the count full and then ripped a double to left. Castellanos scored on Denker's RBI single to tie the game, as Rosario blew his second save in as many games.

After the Lookouts grabbed the lead with three runs in the top of the tenth, the Suns were held scoreless by Tolleson in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

The Suns and Lookouts will play the final game of the five game series on Tuesday afternoon at the Baseball Grounds. Tuesday night will be a "Businessperson Special," with fans having the opportunity to purchase a home plate box seat for $15.50 which includes a hot dog and a large beverage.

Right-handed pitcher Dallas Trahern (4-3, 4.54 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville while right-hander Allen Webster (4-1, 3.41 ERA) will pitch for Chattanooga. Monday's game will start at 1:05 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the contest beginning at 12:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on www.jaxsuns.com.
