Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Third baseman Brennan King, first baseman Andy Tracy and center fielder Rich Thompson combined to go 6-for-13 with four home runs as Lehigh Valley powered its way to a 6-1 win over Indianapolis Tuesday night at Victory Field.

The first-year IronPigs improve to 20-40 overall and 7-25 on the road, while the Indians drop to 28-32 on the season and 14-15 at home.

Lehigh Valley cracked the scoreboard in the third when SS Mike Rouse doubled to right, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and crossed the dish on a single by LF Brandon Watson.

The IronPigs turned to the long ball after that. Tracy and King crushed back-to-back roundtrippers in the fourth to make it 3-0. King then whacked a two-run dinger to make it 5-0.

Thompson, who played for Indianapolis in 2005-06, added a solo blast in the seventh as Lehigh Valley opened up a six-run advantage.

Tracy (3-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI), King (2-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) and LHP Travis Blackley (2-for-2) posted multi-hit efforts for the IronPigs.

3B Neil Walker (2-for-4, 1 R) and 2B Josh Wilson (2-for-2, 1 RBI) recorded multi-hit games for the Indians.

The Tribe plated its only run in the seventh when Walker and Wilson recorded doubles.

Blackley (6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO) improved to 1-3 with the win, while Indianapolis RHP Luis Munoz (5.0 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO) fell to 3-2 with the loss.

The teams continue their four-game series on Wednesday at 2 p.m. LHP Les Walrond is scheduled to start for Lehigh Valley, while RHP Jimmy Barthmaier is expected to get the nod for Indianapolis.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 1:40 p.m.

Indianapolis and Lehigh Valley were squaring off for the first time ever at Victory Field. The Philadelphia Phillies moved their Triple-A affiliate from Ottawa to Lehigh Valley (Allentown, Pa.) prior to the 2008 season.

Post-game quotes -- INF Neil Walker

(on bouncing back from this tough three-game losing streak) "The most important thing is to forget about these past couple of games. We know things haven't gone our way and we haven't executed when we've needed to. We need to put all that in the past, realize these games are over, and come out tomorrow ready to play."

(on recording a hit in seven of his last 10 games) "I have been a little more focused on staying in and getting line-drive hits. I knew my bat was going to come around, it was just a matter of when. I am hoping to ride this streak out and continue to play well this season."

(on the importance of gaining momentum before heading to Louisville) "It's always important to win outside your division. At the same time, we need to be prepared to take on teams like Columbus, Louisville and Toledo. We know we have a ton of games left against them, so it's really important to take these out-of-division games and be prepared for those division foes."
