
Braves' Morton Baffles Bulls

DURHAM, NC- Bulls leadoff hitter Nathan Haynes singled in the first inning, but the Bulls could not collect another base hit until the bottom of the ninth as the Richmond Braves emerged victorious by a score of 7-0.
RHP Charlie Morton (5-1, 1.70) put on a clinic through eight innings and 122 pitches, allowing only Haynes's single and a walk to Elliot Johnson while striking out 13 Bulls. The only other Bull to reach base on Morton was Jon Weber on a throwing error in the sixth. Justin Ruggiano got the only other Durham hit when he singled off Vladimir Nunez in the bottom of the ninth with two outs.
Ben Hendrickson (4-4, 3.76) took the loss, allowing nine hits, five runs, including a home run by Barbaro Canizares, and three walks in five innings, striking out three.
The Bulls and Braves meet again Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Right-hander Chris Mason (2-5, 4.69) will take the mound for Durham; Richmond has yet to name their starter.
