Long Ball Powers AquaSox to 7-4 Victory

EVERETT, WA: Kyle Lewis gave the fans a show in his second rehab appearance with the AquaSox with a two-run home run that powered Everett to a 7-4 win over the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday night at Funko Field. Michael Flynn picked up his third win of the season while Vancouver pitcher Chad Dallas (1-5) was took the loss.

A total of nine pitchers were used between both teams in a bullpen-heavy game. AquaSox starter Logan Rinehart threw three great innings, not allowing a hit with six strikeouts and just two walks. In his two appearances with Everett this season, Rinehart has recorded ten strikeouts in just 5.2 innings pitched.

Vancouver was able to find some offense in the fourth and fifth innings thanks to an RBI single by second baseman Miguel Hiraldo and a home run to center field by leadoff hitter Steward Berroa, giving the Canadians a 2-1 lead.

AquaSox shortstop Noelvi Marte reached base on a throwing error in the bottom of the fifth inning, bringing Lewis to the plate with a chance to give Everett the lead. That is when Lewis barreled up a 406-foot home run over the fence, giving the Frogs a 3-2 lead. Everett would go on to score two more runs in the inning on another two-run home run, this time by third baseman James Parker.

Vancouver fought back with two runs in the sixth, but Everett answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning when Marysville native Trent Tingelstad delivered with an RBI single. Everett would tack on one more run thanks to a wild pitch from Canadians pitcher Ryan Boyer, giving Everett a 7-4 lead.

Tim Elliot came in for the Frogs to close out the ninth, securing his first save of the season. With the win, Everett improves to 7-5 in the second half standings and 38-39 on the season.
