Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
The Lubbock Lone Stars will try to corral the Stampede in San Angelo this Sunday a feat that has yet to be accomplished. San Angelo is a perfect 4-0 at home and has outscored their opponents at the San Angelo Coliseum 53 to 37.
The Stampede and Lone Stars only meeting of the season was in San Angelo in week 6 a game in which the Stampede won 55 to 41. Since that game the Stampede have rolled up 3 straight wins while the Lone Stars have gone 1 and 2 loosing both of their road games in that time.
This match-up pits the second most explosive offense against the Leagues best defense.
The Lone Stars are now second in the league in offensive output scoring an average of 59 points per contest right behind the Dusters at 60.5 points per. San Angelo averages 44 points per game. The Stampede âD' is giving up a League best 31 points a game, while the Lone Stars defense is giving up 51 points per contest 3rd worst in the IFL.
The Lone Stars have struggled in recent weeks against the run giving up 84 yards Saturday against the Dusters. This week they'll have to slow down possibly the best running back in the IFL in Mike Green. In the first meeting the IFL All-Star back ran for three touchdowns and added one more through the air.
Kickoff is Sunday July 4th at 3:05.
