La Crosse Loggers News Release
The La Crosse Loggers emerged victorious over the Bismarck Larks today, easing into the All-Star Break on a high note.
Connor Harrison (Hawaii) made his sixth start of the season for the Lumberman and had a quality outing, tossing 6.0 innings while allowing 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. The bullpen struggled, however, surrendering runs in the final three innings.
Kaiden Cardoso (Minot State), the Larks' first baseman, continued his tare at Copeland Park. He went 2-for-4 with a homer off Harrison in the 5th frame. On the series, Cardoso compiled 6 hits, including 3 multi-hit performances.
Each of the Larks' four pitchers allowed runs, with Garrett Yawn (LIU-Brookly) taking his first loss. Yawn tallied 5.0 innings and gave up 5 earned runs. He was cruising until the 5th inning, in which the Loggers hung a 4-spot on the scoreboard.
In a well-balanced offensive attack, several Loggers' hitters had strong showings. Leading the way was Emilio Corona (Arizona), who exploded for a 3-for-3 game with 2 doubles. Ace Whitehead (Texas) had the team-high in RBIs, with 3 coming on a couple base-knocks.
The Loggers also caught the home run bug, as Ronald Sweeney III (Minnesota) went deep in the 2nd and Landon Wallace (West Virginia) bashed a 3-run dinger in the 5th.
With the All-Star break beginning tomorrow, the Lumberman will receive three days of rest before their battle with the Express on Thursday, July 21st. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 at historic Carson Park in Eau Claire. Fans can watch live at https://northwoodsleague.com/watch-nwl/ or listen live at https://mixlr.com/lacrosseloggers.
