Lakeland Loggerheads News Release
COMING UP
The Loggerheads will be hosting the Miami Manatees at the Lakeland Center on Friday, December 5th then head to Macon on Saturday the 6th to face the Trax. The team returns home on Sunday, December 7th for their first matchup of the season with the Jacksonville Barracudas. All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
THIS SEASON
The Loggerheads earned their first point of the season on Nov. 28th in Alabama. Chris Cerrella scored with 14 seconds left on the clock to complete yet another comeback and force the overtime session. Currently, the Loggerheads reside in 6th place in the WHA2 with a 0-6-1 record.
IN THE COMMUNITY
· Loggerheads players took part in the 16th annual Downtown Lakeland Holiday Walkabout on Tuesday, December 2nd. Downtown Lakeland businesses stayed open late and offered strolling patrons Holiday Music, Carolers, Carriage Rides, Children's Train Rides, Clowns, and Special Events at participating Stores & Restaurants. The entire Lakeland team was on hand signing autographs, handing out free tickets to the kids, and spreading holiday cheer.
· The Lakeland Christmas parade is coming and YOUR Lakeland Loggerheads will be there too! The Loggerheads have sponsored a float for the Lakeland Roller Hockey Association and will be on board showing their holiday spirit and waving to the crowd. There might even be a few t-shirts thrown to the crowd!
MAKING WAVES
· Dru Burgess had made his presence felt for the Loggerheads since being signed as a free agent. Burgess has registered 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in four games as a Loggerhead.
· Since Jeremy Vokes returned to the lineup on 11/14 he has been the Loggerheads leading scorer. Vokes notched 3 goals and 3 assists in the five games he's played in to lead the Loggerheads.
· Rookie goaltender Carl Poissant made his first two starts of the season versus the Alabama Slammers on 11/26 and 11/29. His play between the pipes was stellar as he made 52 saves for a 3.01 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.
NEW YEARS EVE PARTY
The Loggerheads will be holding a New Year's Eve Party when they host the Orlando Seals on Dec. 31st. Package price is $30 and includes a Preferred Seating game ticket and Reception post-game at the Sheraton 4 Points hotel on South Florida Avenue. All of the Loggerheads players and staff will be in attendance to sign autographs and mingle with the fans. There will be food, drinks, party favors, DJ music, and a FREE Loggerheads Champagne Toast at midnight.
