Lakeland Loggerheads News Release

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Loggerheads traveled to Miami for a pair of weekend games versus the Manatees. Unfortunately, Lakeland looked like a sunburned tourist by Sunday night as Miami torched the Loggerheads for 13 goals in the two games.

Saturday's tilt started off with the teams trading goals for two periods as Evan Levi, Rob Schweyer, and Chris Cerrella scored the Loggerheads only goals of the weekend. At the end of the second period with the score tied 3-3 things were shaping up for an exciting end to a tight game. However, the Manatees' six third period goals slammed the door on Lakeland's hopes of victory.

Miami picked up right where they left off in Sunday's game. Lighting the lamp four times in the 4-0 shutout, completing the weekend sweep and tagging goaltender Carl Poissant with his 10th loss of the season.

The Loggerheads have been outscored 43-9 in their last nine games and are 1-8-0 over the same stretch.

Lakeland's next game is Friday January 23rd at 7:05pm vs. the Macon Trax. There will be a free post-game concert featuring two local bands, "Death After Texas" and "As You Wish". Then on Sunday, January 24th, the Loggerheads will celebrate "Kids Appreciation Day" with special games, prizes, giveaways and fun. ALL JUST FOR KIDS!!! Call the Loggerheads Offices at (863)-843-PUCK (7825) for more information.

The Loggerheads face off with the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Miami Manatees and the Macon Trax in the WHA2's inaugural season. All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
