LAREDO, TX - The Amarillo Sox allowed 13 hits to the Laredo Lemurs on Friday night, but starter Chuck Lofgren and reliever Wes Littleton got the Sox out of jams and help a 6-3 victory at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Lofgren (1-1) got the win, allowing nine hits, but only one run in the victory. Chris Chavez (2-3) was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs off seven hits in six and two-thirds innings. Littleton earned his first save of the season, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth.

The Sox broke up the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. Van Pope hit a one-out single and scored on a Matt Tucker RBI double. After advancing to third on an attempted throw home, Tucker scored on a Garrett Rau RBI single for a 2-0 Amarillo lead.

The Lemurs got on the board in the sixth inning. John Allen led off with a single and took third on a single by Ernie Banks Jr. Stephen Pearson followed with an RBI double to score Allen and put runners at second and third with no outs. Palmer Karr followed with an attempted sacrifice fly, but Tucker made the catch in right field and successfully retired Banks at the plate to keep the Sox lead at 2-1.

Amarillo added to their lead in the seventh as Pope was hit by a pitch and went to second on another Rau single. Harrison Kain powered a two-out double to score both runners. Jason White followed with an RBI double to score Kain for a 5-1 Sox advantage.

Following another Sox run in the eighth, Laredo responded for a run as well for a 6-2 score. Paul Montalbano came in for the ninth and allowed the bases loaded with no outs, but Littleton came in to shut the door. He struck out Allen on three pitches, coaxed a groundout from Banks to score a run and got a Pearson groundout to end the game at 6-3 in favor of Amarillo.
