The Columbus Lions add another versatile quarterback to their arsenal with dual threat Darren Daniel joining the team. The Phenix City, Alabama native, who made college stops at Stanford and Alabama State, played with the Columbus Lions back in 2017. Daniel was part of the 10-4 Lions team that feel just short against the Jacksonville Sharks 27-21 in the Championship Game.
Daniel completed 60% of his passes for 1,611 yards and 38 touchdowns while adding on six rushing touchdowns. One of his best games as a Lion was a 85-18 rout of the Corpus Christi Rage where he threw for 175 yards and six touchdowns. "He's very athletic, big and competes. He makes us a better team and I look forward to having him back in a Lions uniform" said Lions head coach Jason Gibson. Daniel will join a Lions team that was ranked 2nd in total offense last season averaging 235.6 yards per game and scoring 88 touchdowns, good for 3rd in the NAL.
