Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 16, 2014) - During Discovery Channel's Shark Week, local reporter for the Naples Daily News, Scott Butherus, hosted "Monster Hammerhead." On Saturday, August 16, Butherus will prey on the first pitch at JetBlue Park with the Miracle looking to take a bite out of the Palm Beach Cardinals.
Saturday's doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. and gates open at 4 p.m. Butherus will throw out the first pitch prior to game two. Fans can enjoy postgame fireworks after the final out of game two with the largest pyrotechnic display in Southwest Florida and the first ever at JetBlue Park.
Butherus is the leading expert and source of information regarding the legendary mammoth hammerhead shark that lurks the waters of the Gulf of Mexico from Everglades city to Tampa Bay. The hammerhead has been estimated at a length of more than 20 feet.
"Monster Hammerhead" featuring Butherus aired during Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week marathon. As part of the research crew, Butherus joined the expedition in the search to catch and tag a massive hammerhead, if one still exists.
Butherus also appeared on Discovery Channel's Shark after Dark Live program with comedian Josh Wolf after the premiere.
Fans will recognize Butherus from his work with the Naples Daily News covering the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and Miracle beats. Butherus also writes an outdoors column highlighting the wealth of activities available to residents and visitors to the Southwest coast of Florida.
Tickets for Saturday can be purchased on at the Twins Academy at the Lee County Sports Complex from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at the team store at JetBlue Park beginning at 9 a.m. Fans can also order by phone at (239) 768-4210 or online at www.miraclebaseball.com.
