Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has agreed to terms with defenseman Mark Adamek, Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"I am extremely happy to have Mark back for this upcoming season," said Cichocki. "Throughout last year he made great strides at becoming a very dependable defenseman and I'm confident he will take on a bigger role with the 2007-08 Thunder team."

Adamek, a Hollister, California native, appeared in 63 games with the Thunder in his first full professional season in 2006-07, scoring six points (2g-4a) with 56 penalty minutes and a +2 rating. The 25-year old played in all six Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Thunder last season, scoring a goal.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound blueliner made his professional debut in 2005-06 with the San Diego Gulls (ECHL), tallying two assists in 11 games with eight penalty minutes. Previously, Adamek spent four years (2002-06) of his college hockey career at Lake Superior State University (NCAA), appearing in 120 career games with the Lakers while amassing 13 assists and 77 penalty minutes.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to finalize the details of our agreement as early as possible and it provides me time this summer to do nothing but focus on training and getting ready for 2007-08," said Adamek. "Being a Northern California kid, obviously it was important for me to stay somewhere that made me feel comfortable and playing in front of the best fans in the league was a big factor as well."

Adamek is the first returning player from the Thunder's 2006-07 roster to agree to terms for next season.

Details on Thunder 2007 training camp information will be announced soon. The Thunder begins the 2007-08 ECHL season Friday, October 19 on the road against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:00 p.m. PT, and faces the Alaska Aces on Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. PT in the home opener at Stockton Arena.

Recently named host of the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game, the Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for two consecutive seasons and drew 244,085 fans to Stockton Arena in 2006-07. Season tickets for 2007-08 are on sale now.
