Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League have re-signed local fan favorite Lee Arnold, Vice President and Head Coach Chris Stewart made the announcement.
Arnold, a 6'2" 215-pound native of Fort Collins, Colorado fought through many injuries during the Eagles inaugural campaign. He amassed 2 points (1-1-2) and 42 penalty minutes in 23 games played in his rookie season. Arnold's physical style of play and aggressiveness will make him an asset to the Eagles roster.
"I am very excited to be playing for Coach Stewart and the Eagles," stated Arnold. "I am very proud to be playing the sport I love in front of my family and friends."
Arnold, 25, began playing hockey at age seven for the Northern Colorado Youth Hockey league in Fort Collins. He moved to Madison, Wisconsin for his senior year of high school to play for the Madison Capitals. Arnold then played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Sioux-City Musketeers, where he totaled 49 points (14-35-49) and 180 penalty minutes in 108 games played. He received an athletic scholarship from the University of Findlay and graduated after playing three seasons for the Oilers.
"Lee went through some tough injuries last season," said Head Coach Chris Stewart, "but gaining experience last year should help him crack the lineup for the season."
Lee Arnold is the seventh developmental player signed by the Eagles. He joins developmental players Karlis Zirnis, Sean Robertson, Kevin Marsh, Jesse Heerema, Brad Patterson, and Bryan Vines. Eagles' defenseman/forward Lee Ruff is the only non-developmental player signed by the Eagles thus far.
The Eagles second season of play begins on October 15 and 16, 2004 against the Tulsa Oilers for two exhibition games at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. The regular season begins on the road at the Ford Center against the Oklahoma City Blazers on October 22, 2004. The Memphis RiverKings are in town for the home opener on October 29, 2004 at 7:05 pm.
