Local businesses donating boxes to children for Sunday's game

Charlottetown - Some students will have a great view of the Charlottetown Islanders' home game on Sunday afternoon thanks to the generosity of some local businesses.
Eight different businesses will be donating their boxes to 43 children from Prince Street Elementary School for the Islanders' matchup against the Halifax Mooseheads.
Islanders President of Operations Craig Foster said it was great to see all the businesses come together to do something for the children.
"It's extremely generous for them to donate their boxes to kids who may not otherwise get the chance to see a game," he said.
"The kids will have a great view for what should be an exciting afternoon of hockey between two good teams. It's sure to be an experience they won't soon forget."
As well as getting great seats for an afternoon of hockey, the children will receive food and Islanders merchandise, and during the game they will receive a visit from Sly the Fox and some Islanders players.
Erin Johnston, Principal at Prince Street School, said that while work in the classroom is important, they also want to provide experiences to help students build interests outside of the classroom.
This initiative is a great way of doing so, she said.
"As an inner city school, we support a very diverse group of students and families. Â Many of our students have never attended a hockey game, let alone sat in a sky box.
"The Charlottetown Islanders are local celebrities and our kids are thrilled at the chance to see the game and meet some players. Â A big thank you to the generous donors who helped make this happen and to the Islanders for the support."
