Windsor Spitfires News Release

Windsor, ON - The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that the Riverside Rangers Atom Minor team is the winner of The Home Depot's "On the Bench" coaching clinic contest. The Home Depot works in association with Major Junior, Junior A, AHL, and CIS partners to give local minor hockey teams in over 55 communities across Canada the chance to win and participate in a coaching clinic with each region's associated team. The Windsor Spitfires launched The Home Depot contest the first half of the 2010/2011 regular season. The contest had local minor hockey teams enter by filling out ballots either at the Spitfires website or in person at any Spitfires home game at the WFCU Centre. The contest ended on January 6, 2011 with the selection of the winner.

Chris Michaelis won the contest for the Rangers, as his ballot was selected from dozens of entries submitted and collected at Spitfire home games. The Atom Minor team will practice with select Spitfire players and coaches on February 7, 2011 from 4:00 - 5:00pm on the main bowl at the WFCU Centre. The Rangers will skate alongside the Spitfire players and participate in drills with Spitfire coaches. Everyone within the Spitfires organization is excited for the opportunity to participate with Rangers in this coaching clinic and the Windsor Spitfires would like to thank The Home Depot for their continued support.
