Lobsters Busy in the Post Season

September 18, 2013 - World TeamTennis (WTT)
Boston Lobsters News Release

Many feel the hard court season is the most grueling part of the tennis calendar. There are the WTT matches and U.S. Open Series tournaments leading into The Open. These matches are often played under the intense heat of the summer sun. But if there is one thing we know, it's that Lobsters are best when steaming hot.

After Eric Butorac finished his WTT season he and his partner, Frederik Nielsen, played in the Winston-Salem Open where they reached the semi finals before losing to U.S. Open Champion Leander Paes and Daniel Nestor. The draw for Eric and Frederick did not get any easier at The Open where they reached the round of 32 before falling to the Bryan brothers.

Katalin Marosi's schedule did not slow down at all following the WTT season. In August, she and her partner Megan Moulton-Levi played in Toronto, Cincinnati, New Haven and at The Open. Her highlights included reaching the quarter finals of New Haven and the round of 32 at The Open. What's more impressive is that she was able to keep her non-stop playing schedule while planning her wedding in Hungary for later this month.

Fan favorite Jill Craybas got back in action at the U.S Open. She teamed up with a former Lobster Coco Vandeweghe where they reached the round of 32.

Speaking of former Lobsters, James Blake announced his retirement last month. James' fourteen year career included many highlights including reaching number 4 in the world in 2006 and helping the United State capture the Davis Cup in 2007.
