Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Friday, August 29, 2014) - Western New York Flash headliners Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd have been named to a 28-player training camp roster by U.S. Women's National Team head coach Jill Ellis. Wambach and Lloyd will prep with the USA for two upcoming matches against Mexico, with one being played at the home of the Flash, Sahlen's Stadium.

The Rochester match will kick off at 7 p.m. ET in Rochester on September 18 and will be aired live on ESPN2 and WatchESPN. Five days prior, the USA will face Mexico at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT at 9:30 p.m. ET. That game will be streamed at ussoccer.com.

Both Wambach and Lloyd recently completed their second seasons with the Flash. Lloyd finished 2014 with a total of 21 points on eight goals and five assists in her 1,710 minutes played. Though Wambach missed a significant portion of the year due to injury, the forward still totaled 16 points on six goals and four assists in just 10 appearances.

This will be the first extended training period Ellis has had with the team since she was officially named the head coach on May 16. It will also be the final camp and matches before she names a 20-player roster that will attempt to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup at the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship being held in Kansas City, Kansas; Bridgeview, Illinois; Washington, D.C.; and Chester, Pennsylvania, from Oct. 15-24.

Twenty-nine players have represented the USA in international competition this year and the majority of the roster will begin training in Salt Lake City on Sept. 5. Of the 28 players called into camp, 18 will dress for each contest.
