(Vancouver) Just 214 days separate last season's Grey Cup championship and the beginning of the 2012 CFL campaign as the BC Lions welcome the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to BC Place at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 29th presented by TELUS.

Coming off a productive and positive three-week training camp in Kamloops that saw the club collect two impressive preseason wins over Edmonton and Saskatchewan, the Lions will look to get 2012 started with a win over a very tough 'Bomber squad.

The Friday night season opener has plenty of plotlines and fans will not want to miss out on this opportunity to be part of history as the Lions enjoy their first full season back in Canada's premier sports and entertainment venue, BC Place.

Head coach Mike Benevides begins his first year at the helm of the club and he will have reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player Travis Lulay under centre for the Leos in the rematch of last year's Grey Cup. The league's leading pivot will likely have the legendary Geroy Simon in his sights early and often Friday night as the CFL's second-leading receiver now takes final aim at the all-time total held by Milt Stegall. Simon needs just 67 yards to surpass the current record of 15,153 yards.

Before the football fireworks take place on-field, fans will want to be in their seats early as the club celebrates the 2011 Grey Cup title with a pre-game championship banner unveiling ceremony starting at 6:50 pm. The ceremony, which will feature the BC Regiment Irish Pipes and Drums, will also include past stars Jim Carphin, Al Wilson, Jamie Taras, Sean Millington, and Brent Johnson as they help unveil banners from the 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000 and 2006 championship seasons.

As well, the first 10,000 fans through the gates (6:00 pm) at BC Place will receive a championship towel courtesy of TELUS.

As announced late last week, the Lions are proud to welcome Canadian pop sensations Dragonette who will perform at halftime of Friday's game. The Toronto-based trio will undoubtedly have BC Place rocking and help kick off another fantastic season of BC Lions football.

All the fun starts at 5:00 pm as Nissan presents the BC Lions Street Party located at the corner of Beatty and Robson Streets featuring live music, face painting, poster making, interactive games and a performance by the 2012 Felions.

Fans can catch all the hard-hitting Lions action in 2012 by visiting 7-Eleven locations across the Lower Mainland. For just $76 including all taxes and fees, Lions faithful will receive two tickets in the Touchdown Endzone, a savings of $10 while supplies last.
