Lions Re-Sign Romond Deloatch

November 8, 2021 - National Arena League (NAL)
Columbus Lions News Release

Romond Deloatch, an integral part of the Lions' passing attack from last season, is staying in Columbus for the 2022 season. Deloatch's role with the Lions will be a little different as the veteran wide receiver will also see action at linebacker as part of the new NAL Ironman rules.

Deloatch was a part of the dominant wide receiver group for the Lions which featured Antwane Grant, Lonnie Outlaw and Desmond Reece. Having these four versatile weapons in the passing game created problems for opposing defenses and forced a lot of one-on-one matchups.

Deloatch took advantage, finishing the season with 46 catches for 386 yards and touchdowns.

His stellar season was cut short with an injury forcing him to miss the final 3 games of the season, including both playoff games.

Despite the absence, Deloatch finished eighth in receptions, 12th in yards and ninth in touchdowns.

When Deloatch returns to the field in 2022, he will have to adjust to the NAL Ironman rules which will require him to play on both sides of the ball with him seeing the field as a linebacker.
